Sun Hats and Sundays

Hats, hats, hats...this is what we heard people whisper as we passed them on our stroll to church, I didn't know these hats would cause such commotion! The truth is every one wished they could be wearing their sun hats too because it feels so classy...

In the Summer

Summer is here! The weather has been super nice this week here in provo and every day after I get off work I just head outside for a run, bike ride, or any adventure (go carts, miniture golf, abandoned treehouses, splash parks, play grounds, baseball games and more) to try and soak up as much sun as possible! One of these is growing this little garden with my friend Landon, I don't know if Summer could be complete for me with out a garden or with out some bloody knees and legs from biking! ha ha

We planted Pumpkins, Cantaloupe, corn, strawberries, tomatoes, cilantro, basil, and rosemary, it is so amazing to me that you stick such seemingly lifeless things as pumpkin seeds into dirt and a few days later, plants start growing and then a few months later you have huge orange pumpkins to carve and make pies with! What a miracle!
And just in case you are wondering I just crashed my bike trying to jump a little dirt pile...guess I need to work on my jumping skills!

Cassies Baptism!

Last weekend I went up to Rexburg for Cassie's Baptism it was a lot of family fun, despite the fact I was super tired from driving up from Salt Lake where I saw the Iron and Wine and the Head and the Heart play (which was really great but I think my favorite part of the whole thing was eating chinese food with my roommate Jessica before hand and then driving home with my friend Shae)

We all ate together afterwards, which included this beautiful and tasty rainbow Jello! Yum! then the kids played on the slip and slide at Mom and Dad's and we worked on planting the garden...which is probably a lot later then if Dad was here but we are working on it and hopefully we can still harvest some delicious food!

Cassie I am super proud of you for making this great decision and not only for that but for making it a wonderful day and being super happy even though both sets of your grandparents, both of which you are very close to couldn't come, I love you Cassie thank you for your example of cheerfulness!

O and also on Sunday Heidi made a Rainbow Cake like this one! It was also Awesome and Delicious!

Work, Work and more Work!

What a great feeling, I was riding my bike to go eat lunch after a couple hours of work and the thought in my head was:

Wow I can't believe they are paying me to do this! This is what I do in my free time for fun!

I feel so blessed, not just for this Job but the one I already have and love! I mean I have two jobs I really love and both of them I are giving me such valuable experience: designing, customer service, the secrets of business, marriage, photography, even how to wrap gifts with tissue paper! Hopefully I will still feel this way after two weeks of this 8 am to 6:30 - 7 pm of straight working, I think I will though, especially with a boss like Justin! For example there is this song Justin and I both love so the other day we were working on a bunch of stuff and Justin stops, tells me to look up the lyrics, turns it on his computer, plays along with his guitar and we both sing, awesome right o and here is the song then next time you can sing along too!

Also this is why I think Justin is such a great photographer he provides all his clients and acquaintances with a unique fun experience, phenomenal pictures and a memory they will never forget! Check out his website here or his blog here! (PS the link for to wrap gifts is one of the 30 Strangers, and her blog is awesome... O man the pressure is on now for when we send her, her prints!)

Some New Things

The Laundry Mat: 4 loads at one time pretty handy, now if only they were quarter machines not two and a quarter machines...

A New Year for me! O and check out the cake my friend Joe made this for me it is a five layer ice cream cake with funfetti cake and playdough ice cream (my favorite) this was the hit of the party. Also for the party we had the most epic easter egg hunt, thanks to Ashley! (Check out how we did our easter egg hunt here and how one way we died them here)

This is my new favorite breakfast, yep that is right breakfast... it is a chinese thing. I thought my roommate a bit crazy the first time she made it I mean it looks like dinner to me but this is one of the most refreshing breakfasts! And who said pancakes, waffles, toast and cereal is what's for breakfast anyway...

Also I will be starting my new job at the Y tomorrow doing graphic design work wahoo but don't worry I am still working for Justin too! I am just going to be one busy bee for a while, wish me luck! Maybe I will even learn to manage my time.... ha ha

Easter!

These first ones are the eggs my roommate and I dyed with silk ties and onion skins with the help of Joe and Maddie. It was a blast but we stayed up till four dying 5 dozen eggs! ha ha some of them are hollow and you'll see what we did them on my birthday post!
(this first one is a tie one and the next one down is an onion skin one)

For Easter Sunday I went to Church with John and Karen and I helped John in the nursery! That was an adventure :)

(below) He looks like he is in a jcrew magazine or something!

Then we had dinner at Karen's parents, YUM! Then John had to work it off by throwing the kids in the air, pay attention to the grandparents faces in the background they were sure they were going to hit the ceiling!

It is about time...

I need, k maybe just want a change! My hair is getting longish which is what I wanted but it is just looking thin to me and I want something fun summery, spunky and NEW!

Number one is my favorite, four I am afraid looks mom-ish I am not ready for that. Dreads, three, is on my bucket list; two isn't really short but it looks like it and in reality I just want to look like five her red hair and freckles are amazing!

What do you think any ideas?

Wow! That was fun!

Can you guess where we were?

The color of the rock should be a dead give away, Southern Utah - mainly Moab and Hanksville area.

I went to WinCo to say hi to Jedd, Katie and Shae and by time they had bought all their food they had me convinced. I packed with some help and in about 15 minutes I was nestled in the truck on my way for an adventure.

(from left to right) Shae repelling into Slydenyde, the Second canyon we did, dropping off the edge is always so scary especially on the first repel of the day; Katie taking pictures on Podash road, also called Wall Street, where we climbed and relaxed all of Thursday, took pictures and just enjoyed being photographers; Jedd going stemming in Slydenyde; Me climbing, I made it to the top of all (2) the routes I did, this is a great feat for me I used to be scared silly of climbing, I really enjoyed it though; Ian, or shall we say mom ha ha he always made sure we had enough food the whole time, and kept us all happy with his infectious grin; Cramer awestruck at how amazingly fun this trip was ;)

Don't worry there is more to come on Moab...

Redneck Camping!

I joined up with my old roommate Claire for some camping despite the fact that it was raining slash snowing I went because she promised we wouldn't get wet....

and guess what we didn't!

We (Claire, her roommate Kim, and me) are all in the back of the covered truck with a mattress in there. I slept so good and was toasty warm the whole night. Before bed we also enjoyed brats, chips, sunflower seeds including lessons on how to spit them from her older brother Canon: "you have to stack the shells then but them between your lips and spit, this prevents you from sounding like a machine gun," O ya and some highlights from a book on how to escape Zombies when the Zombie apocalypse comes... don't worry I'll help ya I am prepared now :)

Then for the ride home we just stayed back there in our sleeping bags! It was a great time!

Vote!

Amazing!

Despite the 6 inches of snow on Sunday morning this weekend was great as General Conference weekend usually always is. Here is the run down...

Friday:
First day of 30 Strangers
A tandem bike ride with Sterling.
Borsch and an old film noir movie, The Big Sleep, with Joe and Jessica.

Saturday:
Grilled PB&J's and Raspberry Streusel Coffee Cake with tons of friends for the morning session.
Changed a tire and unloading the Loader with my brother Jerry.
A Super talk by Elder Dallin H. Oaks.
Bubbles and skipping down the road with a six year old for work... Awesome Job right!
Ice Cream Sundaes aka Frozen Yogurt with Jerry and Karen, got to keep up traditions!
A hug from my sister Heidi via Kristi! Thanks! :)
Lavish Birthday Bash

Sunday:
Conference again!
Playing with my nieces and nephews and their cousins.
Dinner with the Stoddard's: a scrumptuous feast including Karen's grape salad, brussels sprouts, and banana nut cake YUM!
Fireside at the MTC by Vai Sikahema, former NFL star who played for BYU, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Green Bay Packers and is now the Sports Director for NBC 10 in Philadelphia, and through that shares the gospel everyday over the news in the most creative ways! Listening to this devotional made me realize that the gospel can really be spread in any situation, in any career as long as we let that light shine and share it whenever someone is curious and whenever the time is right!
Ribs and Au gratin Potatoes with Matt and the Sikahema's

What Amazed me the most though was when I got up this morning Conference was already online ready for me to listen to! Technology is crazy and really an awesome tool we can use to share the gospel!

Sorry hope I didn't bore you all to death...

Jiving!

Life is great! Yesterday I was researching film noir for a project I am working on and I ended up watching the whole film D.O.A. on youtube. It was terrific, I was on my toes trying to get to the bottom of the mystery. So anyway that is what this clip is from. And why you may ask am I posting this scene on this night? Well tonight I went to Jessica's Luau performance it was awesome! It was the best bootie shaking and stomping I have seen in along time. After watching we had ants in our pants and we needed to dance. The Parlor Hawks were jamming in their garage so we stopped by and danced to our hearts content...

Picture five girls,  in a cinderblock garage, low light, long shadows, the chill of spring and swanky jazz live in the room next door - idyllic!

Also if you didn't notice we look alike not only that we pretend alike, we both like spandex we are both best friends with our moms and play with them as much as we play with friends and we both are happiest when our clothes sorta don't match!

101 things to do before you graduate...

"There are moments in life that make us say, "Aha!" those are the Eureka-type experiences that define who we are. They change us. They inspire us to do other things."

I found this little book while treating myself with a stroll through DI, one of my all time favorite places. I just liked #87 maybe mostly because it used the word epiphany but also I have had so many of these moments in the past while where my Heavenly Father took the time to teach me and where I have realized the things that I really want to work towards. I hope these moments will continue to change and inspire me!

relocation

After 7,612 days (minus apartments and driggs for a winter) of living in rexburg with the same address I am moving to...

that is right, Utah! I know it is not really all that far but I am thrilled! I do love rexburg though and i know there is so much I am going to miss such as: Heidi, all my family here, sled shed, my parents garden, my parents, running through the dry farms, evening mountain bike rides, horchata and a california from ramirez, snow cones all summer long, g's dairy, the river bottoms, Joy and all my friends, and probably a lot of other things. I am though extremely thrilled and eager for this adventure, o and to start off my venture I landed an awesome job working for the phenomenal photographer Justin Hackworth!
